It sounds awfully dodgy to me, but then I'm not a lawyer and don't even play one on TV. Good luck!

AngieAngiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11920578701763415331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847902007209931042.post-29566637804020793512009-01-09T04:15:00.000-08:002009-01-09T04:15:00.000-08:00Hey, just spotted this post while googling "non-di...Hey, just spotted this post while googling "non-disparagement".

Thanks for the opinions! That's where legal defense funds can come in very handy, with groups of relatively poor members of some interest group building a legal fund so they can go after any 800-pound gorillas who decide to muscle in where they shouldn't. The fanfic fans have plans for building one; I've been wondering whether the profic side has anything similar, maybe through one or more of the writers' organizations? I've never seen a mention of anything like that, but it could be useful. To say nothing of actually giving members something concrete to show for their dues money.

AngieAngiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11920578701763415331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847902007209931042.post-5014988953846645782008-10-09T00:14:00.000-07:002008-10-09T00:14:00.000-07:00My rule of thumb is that lawsuits go to the one wi...My rule of thumb is that lawsuits go to the one with the most money.

And no company will ever pay you enough to successfully sue them.Steve Malleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17561234111786788616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847902007209931042.post-45910699857780129142008-10-07T13:30:00.000-07:002008-10-07T13:30:00.000-07:00I don't think it'd stand up either, but I guess it...I don't think it'd stand up either, but I guess it depends how you define "disparagement."

And even if it wouldn't, if you're a publisher and your writers think it's binding, then that's good enough. :/

AngieAngiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11920578701763415331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847902007209931042.post-77911215733468296572008-10-07T06:50:00.000-07:002008-10-07T06:50:00.000-07:00Hum, never seen anything like that.Hum, never seen anything like that.Charles Gramlichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02052592247572253641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847902007209931042.post-7875144758175311222008-10-07T05:11:00.000-07:002008-10-07T05:11:00.000-07:00I've experienced a similar thing with work--a don'...I've experienced a similar thing with work--a don't be an embarrassment to the service or you're subject to punishment or loss of job.
