Me too, on getting back to the writing. Luckily I got this post in to ARe a week ago; I've been out of it for the last few days, either sick, or doped up and sleeping.
Charles -- I do too! When I first heard about it, for the first couple of years I was sure it had to be a British thing, because surely no American would start this kind of an event in November, when everyone would be doing holiday and family stuff toward the end of the month. July or August would probably be perfect, or even April or October. January maybe; people could start as soon as they sobered up after their New Year's party. But the only month that'd be worse than November is December. :P

Great article, Angie! (Speaking of which, I need to get back to my NaNo project...)
Suzan -- thanks. :D

I just wish they'd have it in the summer.
